For Sale The Omega Seamaster Cermet "Black Tulip" (ref. 396.0945) is an exceptionally rare and groundbreaking timepiece, produced between 1982 and 1984. Developed over eight years, its complex and costly manufacturing process led Omega to offer it primarily through special orders. In 1982, it was priced at £1,375—five times the cost of a Speedmaster (£295) and more expensive than many Rolex models. With fewer than 300 pieces ever made, it remains one of Omega’s rarest vintage watches. This particular example is the only known Black Tulip for sale worldwide.
This watch is in very good condition, with its original case back sticker intact, suggesting it is NOS (New Old Stock). It was originally bought from an Omega Authorized Dealer that has since closed, where it reportedly sat on the shelf for decades. The ceramic case and bracelet show no signs of wear, while the metal parts, dial, and hands display only minor aging, consistent with time. Based on its serial number 46116931, the watch was produced between 1982 and 1984, depending on different sources.
This timepiece comes as a complete set, including the rare black Omega leather box, original manual, and an unfilled International Warranty, as the watch was never officially sold.
Crafted from cermet, a pioneering ceramic-metal fusion, the Black Tulip was a technological marvel. Its 2,000 Vickers hardness rating makes it more scratch-resistant than tungsten carbide, while its lightweight design ensures exceptional comfort. This watch was far ahead of its time, introducing ceramic materials to luxury watchmaking decades before they became industry standard.
The watch is powered by the Omega quartz caliber 1420, fully serviced by our in-house Omega-certified watchmaker on January 23, 2025, ensuring precision and reliability. Its 33mm case and integrated bracelet fit wrists up to 19.5 cm, making it a versatile and comfortable choice.
With its unmatched rarity, NOS condition, and historical significance, the Omega Seamaster Cermet "Black Tulip" is a must-have for serious collectors. Don’t miss this unique opportunity—contact us today to make it yours.

Founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Omega has become one of the most celebrated names in the history of watchmaking. Now headquartered in Biel/Bienne, Omega continues to represent the perfect fusion of Swiss craftsmanship, pioneering spirit, and timeless design. Each Omega timepiece is a testament to excellence — worn by explorers, astronauts, athletes, and visionaries who trust only the very best.
The Seamaster, introduced in 1948, embodies elegance and endurance, designed for those who venture beneath the waves and beyond — including the world’s most famous secret agent, James Bond. The Aqua Terra brings together maritime heritage and refined sophistication, making it a perfect balance of sport and style. And the legendary Speedmaster, launched in 1957, became the first watch worn on the Moon, accompanying NASA astronauts during the historic Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
To wear an Omega is to carry a piece of history — a symbol of achievement, adventure, and precision. Each watch reflects more than 175 years of horological mastery, created for those who appreciate innovation, authenticity, and the enduring beauty of true Swiss luxury.
